The Charter sets out how North Yorkshire Council will work together for the benefit of local people in maintaining and improving local services and facilities and influencing and lobbying on future local development.

North Yorkshire Council values the standing that Parish Councils, Town Councils, City Council and Parish Meetings have amongst their residents. They have a closeness to residents and are the first tier of local government to the communities they serve. This compliments NYC’s role as the democratically accountable body, answerable to Government, to deliver national policy and the priorities as set out in the Council Plan. Together our joint vision is to build on North Yorkshire’s natural capital, strong local economy and resilient communities, to improve the way local services are delivered and support a good quality of life for all.

Your parish councillors will discuss the Parish Charter at their meeting in August.
